How to choose
- Think about the battery platform first and the individual machine second: sharing batteries and chargers works out far better value.
- Work out the capacity and number of batteries from how long you work at a stretch, and add a fast charger if jobs run back to back.
- Check performance on real work — damp grass, hard wood — not only in ideal conditions.
- Make the most of the ergonomic gain: less weight, less vibration and less maintenance, with no filters or carburettor to fettle.
