Chainsaws
Essential for pruning season and forestry work. We stock a wide range of petrol and battery chainsaws from brands such as ECHO and Husqvarna, with bars for every kind of job, and we service and sharpen them in our own workshop.
The chainsaw is the go-to tool whenever timber has to be cut: taking down thick branches, thinning woodland, preparing winter firewood or clearing a tree brought down by a storm. Three fairly different families share the market: compact and pole saws, designed for pruning and work at height; all-round garden and smallholding models that handle most domestic jobs; and professional forestry saws built to run all day. Battery-powered models have gained a lot of ground in pruning, urban work and enclosed spaces, where quiet running and no fumes matter.
How to choose
- Match the bar length to what you usually cut: an over-long bar is tiring and less safe.
- Choose petrol for autonomy and demanding cutting far from a socket; battery if you value quiet running, instant starting and low maintenance.
- Test the weight and balance with the machine in your hands, especially if you work with your arms raised.
- Budget for protective equipment (chainsaw trousers, helmet with visor, gloves) and for spare chains and oil.
