A generator gives you power where the grid does not reach, or when it fails: a building site, a plot with no supply, a market stall, an irrigation pump, or simply keeping the fridge and heating running through a power cut. Inverter models deliver stable, clean current suitable for sensitive electronics such as computers, sound equipment or modern appliances, and they tend to be quieter and lighter. Conventional frame sets, single- or three-phase, remain the reference when what you need is raw power and hours of service.
How to choose
- Add up the load of everything you will connect, and allow for the starting surge of motors, which multiplies consumption for a few seconds.
- Choose inverter if electronics will be plugged in; conventional if it is only tools and motors.
- Check whether you need single-phase or three-phase, and which sockets and protective devices are required.
- Look at noise level, tank endurance and weight: they decide whether you can run it at night or move it single-handed.
